Breaking Every Key with Quantum Computers

What if I told you the super chip from the movie Sneakers is being built and tested right now, and that computers will soon be able to decrypt all the conversations in the world (if they aren't already?) The dawning of quantum computers is bringing unimaginable computing power to certain computationally intensive activities like weather forecasting, health care diagnosis and treatments, chaos simulations, material strength, and others. And the race is on to improve them, meaning that commercially available quantum computers will soon be capable of solving the math problems at the foundations of all current modern public key cryptography. This means the communications algorithms, protocols, certificates, and public key infrastructure we all rely on to keep our internet connections secure need to be replaced right now. I'll discuss the tidal wave of change already underway to try to keep our internet connections safe. And I'll talk about what you'll need to do to upgrade your systems.
